Question 1

Is the reader meant to identify with the narrator?  To sympathize with him?  How doe you think Ellison himself sees his protagonist?  Did your perception judgment of the narrator change throughout the course of the novel?  How so?

  1. I can relate to the narrator because at one point in time I felt invisible. In the past I allowed other people judgment define my character. its not only to sympathize with the narrator but to also empathize with him. Ellison may picture him as someone that who use to be as well. Yes my perception change only because invisible man changed his attitude, and personality.

  2. @DestinyWitcher I totally agree. I as well when I read the book could relate to the narrator and I constantly felt myself within him. In my opinion, I believe that Ellison may have pictured himself as somewhat invisible and I believe that his purpose in having it that way was so that the reader could relate as well. My perception as well changed because invisible man changed his view and attitude on life itself.
