What is the significance of ending the novel with a question?

  1. The ending of the novel is a very unique and interesting ending. The ending is also the beginning of a new journey for invisible man. The narrator said he had stayed underground. While underground, the invisible man realizes that he must honor his individual complexity and remain true to his identity without sacrificing his responsibility to the community and as well lose his true identity which relates to the theme of man vs. society and how racism can block or hinder one's individual growth and as well keep them from reality which in the novel is why invisible man went into hibernation and blocked out the realities of the world.
